Amolo Tea
A perfect after-meal tonic tea
Amolo (Phyllanthus emblica) is a fruit that grows widely in Southeast Asia, India
and Southern China. In India, it is known as Amlaki or as
Amla. It is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine. Fujian
Province of South China is known as a premier source
of superb quality Amolo fruit. It has been used for many centuries as a
digestive aid, a cooling herb to eliminate internal heat, to encourage
production of body fluids to extinguish thirst and for an extraordinary range
of tonic benefits. Amolo is simultaneously a food and an herb. The great
classic of Chinese herbal medicine, the “Ben Cao Gang Mu,” says:
“Taking this fruit for a long time will help you possess a light body and
longevity.”
Extraordinarily, Amolo is the richest source of vitamin C
known to mankind. An average fruit of Amolo contains vitamin C at a ratio of
300 mg / 100g, or 30%. One Amolo
fruit contains approximately 3000 mg. of vitamin C (approximately 20 times the
vitamin C of an orange). The vitamin C in Amolo is heat-stable. Experiments
have shown that the natural vitamin C contained in Amolo is more readily and
more quickly assimilated than synthetic vitamin C.
Amolo has a powerful antioxidant activity. Vitamin C itself
is an excellent antioxidant. However, Japanese researchers have shown that
Amolo is a potent free radical scavenger, thus eliminating the stress-related
oxygen-based ions which clutter up an unhealthy body. These free radicals cause
premature aging and can cause auto-immune diseases whereby the body attacks its
own tissue. Amolo is a very rich source of SOD (superoxide dismutase), one of
the best antioxidants known, at 482 units / g.
Recent studies conducted in Fujian Province
and elsewhere by established and respected medical hospitals, (but unsupported
by Western medical studies) has demonstrated that Amolo is an important health
supplement. It has found that continued administration of Amolo by human
beings:
It has been clinically tested under a wide variety of
conditions and has been found to be both a profound health product and a
wonderful supplement to aid in weight loss.

Amolo is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine as well.
Spiritual qualities attributed to Amolo in the Ayurvedic Encyclopedia are described as follows: "It is sattwic (pure) in quality, gives love,
longevity and good fortune. For mothers who behave angrily towards their
children, it calms them and balances their emotions. For children who have lost
their mother, it fills them with the sense that their mother is there. Thus, Amalaki has another name, Dhatri, meaning "mother" in
Sanskrit.
